About the Trust Fund

The Navajo Nation Council approved the Handicapped Trust Fund Rules and Regulations which allows Trust Funds to be utilized for independent living services, grants to community/tribal programs and established an advocacy body:  The Navajo Nation Advisory Council on the Handi-Capable (NNACH).

The Trust Fund Rules and Regulations further designated the Division of Dine Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services (OSERS) to administer the Trust Funds in consultation with the NNACH.

Purpose

The purpose of the Trust Fund is to expand and improve services for Navajo people with disabilities residing on the Navajo Nation.  This includes independent living (IL) services that are not provided under the vocational rehabilitation program.  It also includes grants to community and tribal programs to expand employment and IL opportunities.
